HIST-265 Intro to Museum Studies

Augustana College does not have a museum studies program, but many students are interested in exploring this field. Over the years, I have mentored countless students interested in going into libraries, archives, and museum work. In 2019, I spoke with the history department faculty and we agreed that a course was needed so I developed the college's first museum studies course.

I teach this course as a 3-week intensive January term, which I affectionately refer to as "museum camp." I like to focus on hands-on application of theory, using the college's several museums as labs for this course.
